WEATHER UPDATE: In consultation with area emergency management officials, all Lafourche Parish public schools and offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, and all school-related activities are canceled. Decisions regarding Tuesday will be made Monday, and we will provide an update to our families regarding the safe reopening of schools once we are able to assess our campuses for any weather-related impacts. We will also continue working cooperatively with local authorities to ensure conditions are safe for students and staff to return. We will communicate updates on school operations through employee email, SchoolStatus, social media and our website, mylpsd.com. We encourage everyone to stay safe and warm and take precautionary measures.

As of now, we do not anticipate any changes to school-related activities scheduled for the weekend. A decision regarding Monday will be made no later than 5 p.m. Saturday. Once a decision is made, we will inform our families through employee email, website updates, Facebook and OnCourse Connect, and direct notifications will be sent through SchoolStatus texts, emails, and phone calls. Please continue to monitor these outlets for official updates. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these potential weather challenges together.

‼️ SCHOOL MEAL UPDATE ‼️
There is a broken water line at St. Charles Elementary School that is impacting the school cafeteria. As a result, the cafeteria will be unable to serve warm meals tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 29. Pre-packaged shelf stable meals will be available to those students wishing to participate. If you prefer to send your student with a lunch from home, you may do so.
We are working to have this issue repaired as quickly as we can, and we will continue to communicate with you and keep you updated on our progress.
As inconvenient as this situation is, it will not affect any other school services or activities.
The well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are dedicated to resolving this issue safely and effectively so we can return to serving warm meals as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to address this issue.

National Principals Month: Jessica Leblanc
To celebrate National Principals Month, we’re sharing some fun facts about our amazing school administrators. Today you’ll learn more about Mrs. Jessica LeBlanc, principal of St. Charles Elementary School.
Here’s the inside scoop on Mrs. LeBlanc:
🐾 She’s been a principal for two years.
🐾 She says the most rewarding part of being a principal is connecting with students, teachers, staff, families, and community members who are all yearning for the same goal...student success! She loves celebrating successes with students!
🐾 Her favorite subject was science, specifically biology. She earned a biology degree and taught the subject for many years. “Biology helps us understand so much about ourselves and all of the living systems around us. It's fascinating!”
🐾 Her favorite school lunches are chicken and parsley rice and Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes.
🐾 Going back to Europe and visiting Poland are on her bucket list.
🐾 Outside of work she loves to read, cook dishes from around the world and watch movies. She also loves to support her kids at their school activities, especially band.
🐾 Fun Fact: To honor her grandparents and her Polish heritage, they served kielbasa and pierogi at her wedding...right alongside the gumbo and jambalaya! Smakuje (Tasty)!
